I believe that in order to be exceptional, we’ve got to be willing to make ourselves an exception.
For me, that pursuit starts every single day, for 365 days of the year.
4:15am. Dragging myself out of bed, first meal of the day devoured, followed by 2 hours in the gym.
And I really do mean every day; including Christmas Day and New Years Day; quiet days, busy days; holidays, work days, weekdays and weekends.
I even go back for a second round some evenings too, just to keep on top of the cardio. Most people watch Netflix in the evenings, and I do too - I just choose to do it on the treadmill where it can have another benefit too.
“That’s unsustainable” I’ve been told many times.
And in response to those: I’ve managed to sustain training for an average of 12 times per week consistently for 8 years now, so if it wasn’t, I think something probably would have given some form of sign by now. Seems to be working out fairly well anyway.
The achievement is directly correlated to the effort that is put into it, and whatever you’re willing to sacrifice to achieve it.
I eat 7 times per day, macronutrients fully tracked. Body composition assessed twice per month, and soft tissue massages every 6 weeks. It’s just routine - I still run my business, serve my clients, and have plenty of time left over to help out whoever needs some assistance. It’s about time management, not how much time you’ve got.
This is a practice that overflows into everything else I do - a tracked and precise implementation of a well-considered plan. Stress tested, iterated, and refined continuously.
